Gamondi Reveals How He Ended the Arabs

Yanga coach Miguel Gamondi has congratulated his players for the great things they did for CR Belouizdad as they were excellent on the field, and he himself set two records of reaching the quarter-finals for the first time since 1998 and now the quarter-finals of the African Champions League.

He said they started badly after the groups people hated them and were unhappy, but yesterday they have been better and have forgiven those who were unhappy, football is now looking forward.

After the completion of 90 minutes of the fifth game of the African Champions League against CR Belouizdad of Algeria played yesterday at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam, Gamondi said that when you create chances on the ball, you have to use them but not all of them can be used. What his players did was good.

He said that in the first half we dominated the game but the opponents were defending themselves so that they would not score many goals, in the second half we changed our tactics and were able to score many goals.

“We have qualified regardless of the results of the remaining matches but we are going to look for points away against Al Ahly, I know Al Ahly well, we will go to play happily without pressure.

Since we need points in that game to finish with respect, we are going to work on quality and correct our mistakes in order to seek respect in our last game,” said Gamindi.

Yanga midfielder Mudathir Yahya, has explained that the biggest secret of his ability to score goals is playing the incomprehensible Winger position because in all the matches he has managed to get results, he has not played the midfielder position.

“You can see on the field I play as a midfielder but I also become a winger according to the responsibilities given to me by the technical bench, we have taken revenge and now we go to Egypt to walk while we need to seek respect,” said Mudathiri.

CR Belouizdad coach, Marcos Paquette said the competition is difficult for them, they have played against the best teams, they tried to play well but they have encountered difficulties.

He added that the heat was also intense for his players who quickly got tired of the results by failing to perform well in the early minutes of the second half and conceding two quick goals after the break.

“Yanga’s results so far have disappointed us but they will not get tired and they are going to fight to prepare for their final match against Medeama FC, we will use this game to look for mistakes and correct them before our final match,” said Marcos.

In another step, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Arts and Sports, Hamis Mwinjuma ‘Mwana FA’, handed over money for the “Mother’s Goal” which is a promise by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, to buy every goal for the national teams and clubs representing the country in international competitions.

Mwana FA said that Yanga’s act of entering that stage for the first time, put Tanzania on the map and they wish to see it go further in the African Champions League tournament.

And Yanga President, Hersi Said, said that despite promising the players a big bonus before the game, they held talks and claimed that they would use the philosophy they used on November 5, last year to beat CR Belouizdad 4-0.

“According to the rules, this game must be won 4-0, we had to talk to the players to see how to get that number, they promised that they would use the philosophy of the November 5 match, to move forward in today’s game and that has been fulfilled,” said Hersi and promised that the team will continue to do well in the next stage.
